First Time Homebuyer’s Steps
1. The first step in purchasing a home is to get prequalified through a lender. This step involves meeting or speaking with a lender to verify what price range of houses you will need to preview.
2. Preapproval – With this step, the buyer will have actually applied for the loan and the lender will have already given you a commitment stating they will give you the loan.
3. Decide on what your criteria in a new home should include. Determine what is a “must have” and what is a “like to have.”
4. Speak to a realtor to convey these items, which will allow him/her to search for homes that meet your criteria.
5. Once you start touring homes, make notes of both the pros and the cons of each home.
Should there not be any homes currently on the market that fit your criteria, your realtor should be able to email you listings as they come onto the market that fit your criteria.
